Our Story

Established in 2000, the Elefante family named the family run business after their grandmother, Zita. Grandmom Zita made every meal special, using the freshest ingredients and loved to cook for her grandkids and see their faces light up at the sight of her mouth-watering sweets.

Grandmom would be proud to know that Zita’s has become a household name in the area and serves up some of the best ice cream in the state that is committed to quality homemade treats.

Pete Elefante, the sole proprietor of Zita’s has grown this family owned business what it is today—a local favorite featuring award-winning flavors, such as S’mores, a winner from the 2010 NJ Ice Cream Festival. Pete develops new flavors based on customer feedback and personal inspiration, resulting in unique flavors for every taste.

Zita’s now offers soft serve ice cream, yogurt as well as a dairy free variety made from coconut milk, alongside of traditional Italian ice. Traditional  favorites like banana splits and brownie sundaes are always a winner, but also try our shakes, blends, and slushes made your way. Ice cream cakes and novelties are a sure way to brighten up any party or gathering.
